The Internet is a wonderful source of information however it is also a medium whereby companies make claims, promises and raise expectations in order to get business over competitors.

Sadly in some cases when guests arrive they realise not everything is quite what it appeared online.

Our Eco-System approach. What are your chances of seeing sharks and other wildlife?

Great White Sharks like leopards, tigers, bears and eagles that occur in the wilderness are free to roam. Although we would like to guarantee sightings, and on each trip we do our absolute best to find the sharks, we cannot “make” the sharks appear at our boat.

Great white sharks all have their own unique personalities, some choose to interact and some don’t. All are affected by weather and seasons. Add to this that there may be as few as 2500-3000 individual Great whites left in the world’s oceans today and you understand that it is a privilege to see even one of these sharks in the wild.

We put sharks first, and we are dedicated to the conservation, research and education of sharks. This means that each of our tours operates in the most environmentally friendly way possible. While most shark cage operators use shark livers to lure sharks to the boats, we are vehemently against this practice. Although we do make use of a tuna head to attract the sharks closer to the boat for cage diving, a large component of our work is based on natural predation observation, ensuring more natural viewing opportunities rather than enforced sightings through excessive chumming during viewing trips. Apex offers the smallest group size for cage diving and viewing, resulting in a far more intimate experience than you would find with cage diving in Gansbaai or other regions in South Africa. This personal attention is what sets Apex Shark Expeditions apart from the rest, and ensures one of the most memorable experiences possible.

Hosted by leading Great White experts and renowned wildlife photographers Chris and Monique Fallows, Apex offers shark lovers and serious nature enthusiasts the experience of a lifetime with exclusive shark dive Cape Town tours departing just 45 minutes from the city centre. View the natural predatory behaviour of the sharks as they hunt seals using their highly developed breaching tactics, and share the in-depth knowledge of Chris and Monique Fallows during our highly sought-after eco tours that give you the unique opportunity to witness breaching and cage diving within the same trip – something that few other trips can offer. This is shark viewing as you have never experienced it before, with the smallest group size in the industry, plus the longest trips for shark cage diving in South Africa - ensuring the expedition of a lifetime! If you are seeking a highly memorable and one-of-a-kind shark encounter, then let Apex take you on an unforgettable journey as you witness the legendary flying Great Whites of False Bay.
