Book Review - Great White & Eminent Grey

written by Chanele Jenkinson

A Great White shark breaching in False Bay, Cape Town.

Posted on Friday, 6 November 2015

Chris Fallows passion and love for the sharks leap off the pages in this beautiful coffee table book; both in the magnificent images captured, and in his writing. A truly remarkable read that will leave you feeling intrigued and mesmerized. Everyone should see a Great White at least once in their lives, and this book will certainly make you want to!

Chris is a perfect example that if you are truly passionate, and determined, you can do what you love in life. He is not a scientist or biologist, but has become one of the foremost shark experts in the world. Chris began working with sharks in 1989, first in Gansbaai and then at Seal Island, False Bay, and has documented each of his encounters with them, making his data collection and images one of the greatest in the world!

I would like to end off with my favourite quote from the book, “In a heartbeat the shark’s raw power, graceful athleticism and hunter’s determination are all indelibly imprinted upon those fortunate enough to witness the show”.
